Arrive on Time and Bring a Watch It is important that chaperones be on time since trips are planned to depart from and return to school at specified times. A chaperone must be willing and physically able to participate in all activities. You must also wear the current year hard badge.Ģ. In order to be a registered volunteer, you must have completed the volunteer registration form online and been approved. A chaperone must be a registered volunteer who is a parent, guardian or family member of a child who is in the class going on the field trip. The purpose of the chaperone guidelines are to provide you with an overview of a chaperone’s responsibilities and to make you aware of appropriate responses to various situations that may arise during the course of a field trip.ġ. Your role as a chaperone is an important one, and while enjoyable, requires that you accept certain responsibilities. When you volunteer to serve as a chaperone on your child’s field trip, you will be helping to extend the regular curriculum beyond the classroom and the school. Security ScreeningĪll bags/backpacks will be checked by Security. There is a full-service Shake Shack open at the museum where visitors may purchase food. There is the small Mars Café on the first floor with limited options.Īt the Udvar-Hazy Center, groups are encouraged to eat on their buses or use the picnic tables provided outside the Museum near the bus parking lot. There is no space for outside food to be eaten at the National Mall Building. Outside food and drink, other than bottled water and sealed containers, are not permitted inside the museums. Buses must exit through Lane 1 (the staffed lane) in order to have the parking fee waived. All vehicles must pull a parking ticket upon entry. Tour buses and school buses park for free. Udvar-Hazy Center, there is a parking fee of $15.00 per vehicle. Docent Policyįor all tours, one docent will be assigned for every 20 people in the tour group. If reserved groups do not alert Museum staff to a cancellation at least 24 hours in advance, your group may not be allowed to reserve future programs. We ask that groups who need to cancel a reservation, or expect to arrive later than planned, call the Museum’s Welcome Desk at 70.
